RDA Reviews Urban Boundaries in Rawalpindi
Development Purposes
A meeting was held in the Tehsil Hall, Gujar Khan to discuss the implementation of the Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) proposed new urban boundaries in accordance with the Peri-Urban Structure Plan and Side Development Zone.
Rawalpindi’s Urban Boundaries
The public was given the opportunity to share their feedback and recommendations related to the Tehsil Gujar Khan Peri-Urban proposal with the Director of Metropolitan Planning RDA and AC Gujar Khan offices within a week’s time.
The Peri-Urban structure plan for Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, and Kahuta tehsils has been completed and uploaded on RDA website for public access in the spirit of transparency.
Peri-Urban Structure Plan
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Gujar Khan, Director Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) RDA, Muhammad Tahir Meo, Director Land RDA, Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, and representatives of Mott MacDonald Pakistan attended the meeting. The consultant from Mott MacDonald Pakistan presented a comprehensive report on the proposed Peri-Urban Structure Plan, highlighting the new urban boundaries and restrictions

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has finished peri-urban planning for Gujar Khan and Kotli Sattian as part of setting the district’s new urban limits for the next 25 years. According to the specifications, RDA has also requested citizen feedback on the proposed borders. Mott MacDonald, the consultant, is scheduled to provide a planning report for the district’s other tehsils in the last week of May. According to RDA authorities, determining the urban bounderies will aid in planning for the demands of the rising urban and rural populations over the next 25 years.
In addition, the RDA has initiated an awareness campaign on the district’s new urban limits.
The limits will be set by the many proposed zones, which include green, residential, industrial, and agro-farm zones. Furthermore, RDA has made the peri-urban structural plan publicly available on its website.

RDA has completed and made public the Peri-Urban Structure Plan for several tehsils, including Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, and Kahuta. The plan includes a seven-day deadline for the public to submit objections or suggestions regarding the Tehsil Gujar Khan Peri-Urban proposal to the offices of the Director of Metropolitan Planning RDA and AC Gujar Khan.
